A striking large fluorite specimen from the historic Blackdene Mine in Weardale, County Durham, England.

This substantial piece is covered with a dense formation of deep violet and smoky-purple fluorite crystals, creating a richly textured surface with plenty of natural sparkle. Across the specimen, the crystals vary in size and clarity, with some showing distinct cubic faces, layered growth and flashes of reflection as the light moves across them.

The darker purple areas give the piece real depth, while the paler, slightly frosted sections reveal the natural variation within the fluorite. Its broad, dramatic formation makes it an impressive statement piece for a display cabinet, geology collection, altar space or crystal room.

Weighing over 2.1kg, this is a substantial collector’s piece with a strong presence. Its rich colour, dense crystal coverage and classic UK locality make it especially appealing to fluorite collectors, geology enthusiasts and anyone drawn to the mineral heritage of Weardale.

Fluorite is often associated with clarity, focus, energetic cleansing and mental organisation. Purple fluorite is also symbolically linked with intuition, spiritual awareness and a calmer, more reflective state of mind.
