Raw Fluorite & Barite Specimen – Wheal Mary Ann, Menheniot, Cornwall

Some beautiful raw fluorite and barite specimens from Wheal Mary Ann in Menheniot, Cornwall, an historic nineteenth-century mine with a wonderful place in Cornwall’s rich mineral heritage. Originally these pieces were mined out when the mine operated for tin and silver, they were later collected with permission from the land owners.

These pieces show the naturally wild and untamed character that makes old Cornish fluorite so special. Soft green to blue-green fluorite can be seen across the matrix, often sitting alongside contrasting barite crystals that add texture, sparkle and a lovely sense of depth. Depending on the individual piece, you may see translucent areas, internal colour zoning, cubic fluorite growth, natural fractures and rough mineral detail that reveal the specimen’s journey through the earth.

Physically, this is fluorite with real presence. The combination of fluorite and barite creates a specimen that feels both earthy and magical: delicate crystal faces catching the light, rich mineral textures across the matrix, and natural colour variation that makes every piece completely unique. These are not polished or overly perfect specimens; they are raw reminders of Cornwall’s mining past, formed deep within the ground and carrying the character of an old mine.

Energetically, fluorite is often loved for clarity, focus, cleansing and helping to bring order to a busy mind. It is a beautiful mineral to keep near a desk, study space, altar or meditation area when you want to clear mental clutter and return to a more grounded, centred place. Barite brings its own gentle but powerful energy, often associated with stillness, higher awareness, dreamwork and creating space to listen to your inner guidance.

Together, fluorite and barite make a particularly special pairing: fluorite helping to organise, cleanse and focus the mind, while barite encourages calm reflection, spiritual connection and a softer opening to insight. These specimens are perfect for collectors, geology lovers, crystal workers and anyone drawn to the ancient energy held within Cornwall’s historic mines.

Each piece has its own individual form and may be suited to a cabinet, shelf, altar, desk, geology collection or crystal display.
